Texas dadâs heartbreaking voicemail to his kids as deadly floods swept him and wife away
During the catastrophic flooding in central Texas, Jeff Ramsey, 61, exemplified a fatherâs deep love in his last moments. As the floodwaters from the Guadalupe River inundated HTR RV Park in Kerrville, Jeff and his wife, Tanya, 46, found themselves trapped in their Airstream trailer. Aware that escape was improbable, Jeff recorded heartfelt farewell messages for his children, Jake and Rachel, conveying love and grief in a tone of panic they had never experienced before.
As the water rose, Tanya could be heard screaming in the background of a second voicemail sent to Rachel. The coupleâs trailer was destroyed before emergency alerts could reach themârendering Jeffâs calls the only warnings they received. Tragically, Tanyaâs body was later discovered and identified, while Jeff remains unaccounted for.
Jeffâs thoughts extended beyond his childrenâhe also took action to save others. He contacted Tanyaâs brother and mother, waking them before the floodwaters reached their cabin, which was subsequently found in ruins. Jake, their son, believes that Jeffâs call was instrumental in saving their lives. Tanya, a breast cancer survivor who operated a wig shop for women undergoing treatment, and Jeff, a volunteer assisting amputees in regaining strength, were both deeply committed to their community.
In the midst of the devastation, the family was reunited with Chloe, their rescue whippet, who was discovered alive at a local shelter. Friends and family remembered Jeff as a man with a âservantâs heart,â dedicated to helping others.
